SafeAssign is a plagiarism prevention tool integrated into Blackboard that helps instructors assess the originality of student submissions by comparing them against various databases. ✅ How to Submit an Assignment with SafeAssign
- Access the Assignment:
- Navigate to your course in Blackboard.
- Locate and click on the assignment that requires SafeAssign submission.Northern Illinois University

- Read through the instructions, due date, and any provided materials.

- Submit Your Work:
- Click on the “Write Submission” button to type your work directly into the text box, or use the “Browse My Computer” button to upload a file.
- Supported file types include DOCX, DOC, PPT, PPTX, PDF, TXT, ODT, RTF, HTML, and HTM.

- Optional: Add Comments:

- Submit the Assignment:
- Click the “Submit” button to finalize your submission.
📊 Viewing Your Originality Report
- After Submission:
- Once your assignment is submitted, SafeAssign will process it and generate an originality report.

- Accessing the Report:
- Return to the assignment page.
- Under “Assignment Details”, click on “SafeAssign”.
- Here, you can view the overall match percentage and, if permitted by your instructor, access detailed matches. Blackboard Help
⚠️ Important Considerations
- File Size Limit:
- SafeAssign can only process files smaller than 10 MB. Blackboard Help
- Multiple Attempts:
- If your instructor allows multiple submissions, you can upload revised versions of your assignment.
- Each submission will be analyzed separately, and a new originality report will be generated.
- Viewing Reports:
- Access to the originality report depends on your instructor’s settings.
- If you cannot view the report, contact your instructor for guidance.

- Global Reference Database:
- By submitting your work to SafeAssign, you contribute to the Global Reference Database, helping to prevent plagiarism across institutions.
- You can choose whether to include your submission in this database.
