Duties of the TeL Student Assistants

The Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC) is pleased to introduce the TeL Student Assistants, who play a pivotal role in supporting students across both campuses. These assistants provide first-line support in response to fundamental queries and offer training on the effective use of the Blackboard Learning Management System. In addition to Blackboard, they also assist students with the development of e-Portfolios and the use of Turnitin.

Students are required to log their queries through the designated portal, where they can select the relevant category of support and schedule a consultation with a TeL Student Assistant. It is imperative that the TeL Student Assistants do not offer immediate solutions outside of the formal process, as all interactions must be recorded. Assistants are expected to document each query and provide evidence of the consultation, demonstrating that appropriate guidance and solutions have been offered. This process ensures accountability and the continuous monitoring of support services.
